This mimeographed manuscript was submitted to the Historical Division, War Department, as required by W.D. Circular 64, 1945. It was prepared to make available an accurate digest of important facts concerning the sixty-one divisions assigned to the European Theater. For each division in part one, the following are listed: insignia, nickname, insignia significance, and motto; command and staff; statistics; composition -- organic units/attachments/detachments; assignments and attachments to higher units; and command posts. Part 2 contains general information with tables (organic composition of divisions, organization and strength, summary of divisional equipment, comparative statistics, and geographical sub-divisions), calendars (1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945), and abbreviations.
