Hptm. Eduard Tratt, commander of Erprobungskommando, a testing unit within I./JG 1, finished his morning coffee, raised his head and glanced around. Other JG 1 pilots were finishing breakfast at the tables of Schiphol airfield dining room. Tratt rose slowly and, looking at his watch, moved towards the door.
