Upon the death cf Carloc III of Spain, in 1788, the Spanish Army con­sisted of twenty eight Spanish infantry regiments, twelve foreign infantry regiments, three light infantry regiments, twelve line cavalry regiments, eight dragoon regiments, and two cazadore (light cavalry) regiments.
