I taught myself to speak French using this book while living in a French-speaking oountry. Having studied three quarters of the book, I attended the first year course at the Lycee Francais, where a "learn by rote" method is applied. OF course, I learned things at the Lycee that were valuable, however, as an Englsih speaking adult, seeking to learn my first foreign language, I found this approach to be inefficient and frustrating. Now, a certified K-12 French teacher, here are some of the reasons I believe this book to be an excellent learning resource.
