There are many "image" processing books out there. But what makes this book unique is providing profound knowledge about 2-D signal processing. Most of image processing books just contain fancy images and quick-n-dirty equations for hit-n-run people. But this book provides various algorithms, design methods, and illustrations in terms of both of "2-D signal" and "image" processing. Chapters for filter design are good examples.
