Описание: Born of an unprecedented series of cancelled projects in the mid and late 1960s, the Tornado is now well and truly established in squadron service, so much so that to the general public it is nowadays a commonplace aircraft. It is also the most important warplane on the RAF's inventory, which, when deliveries of both the IDS (interdictor/strike) and ADV (air defence variant) are complete, will show some 400 of the type to be on strength. Recent months have seen the beginnings of an export surge, a large quantity having been ordered by Saudi Arabia and smaller numbers by Jordan and Oman, and, most recently, an order for twelve having been placed by Malaysia. In addition, there is a dedicated electronic combat/reconnaissance (ECR) version, derived from the IDS.
