Detail & Scale's coverage of the Lightning began with the P-38 Lightning in Detail & Scale, Part 1, Detail & Scale Volume 57. That book covered the XP-38 exper­imental prototype, the YP-38 developmental prototypes, and all production versions up through the P--38H.
