Korea - a small annlike peninsula jutting into the Sea of Japan from Manchuria. Korea is the strategic springboard for anyone wanting to control Asia. A country seemingly destined never to govern Itself. Occupied by the Japanese from the turn of the 20th Century until the end of World War II then occupied jointly by the Soviet and American armies. Finally in 1948, the United Nations decided to unify Korea under a Korean National Assembly. The UN resolved that free elections would be held in all of Korea to elect a national government. Hut it was only south of the 38th Parallel that the elections were held and Dr. Syngmnn Mice elected first President of the Republic of Korea.

Hut there were still two Koreas. The North Koreans, under Soviet leadership, were building an army, an army to be used in their own re-unification program. The Soviet Union supplied the North Korean Peoples Army (NKPA) with tanks and aircraft, then trained the North Koreans well.
