1. This report presents some collected data on the full-scale air drag of various British seaplanes, all of which may be described as being of good orthodox design of the period dating from the late 1930's to 1950. By orthodox design is meant that the aircraft are all high-wing monoplanes and have hull forms which have a plan fineness ratio of the order of 6 to 7, based on the ratio of the length between the bow and the aft step and the maximum beam. They also have beam loadings up to the maximum developed for this form of hull, but vary in size from all-up weights of 10,000 to 320,000 lb. The aim of the report is to demonstrate the order of air drag achieved with these seaplanes...

2. This report contains subject matter and data from reports on work done in the Royal Aircraft Establishment's 5-ft Diameter Open Jet Tunnel and the National Physical Laboratory's Compressed Air Tunnel on the air drag of seaplane hulls (Refs. 1 to 4) and also contains some unreported results of tests on the Princess hull.
