The USAAF was the largest user of the B-24 Liberator, of the nearly 20,000 built, 18.188 were used by the USAAF in all theatres of war.
Ironically, the first aircraft of this type used in action by the USAAF wore the dark green and dark earth with black under surfaces of the RAF. These were aircraft awaiting delivery to Britain in December 1941, but were commandeered by the USAAF after Pearl Harbour.
