The following photographs were discovered in the personal photos and records of William Bristol Tufford (1900-1988), my great-grandfather. William was stationed at Brooks Field shortly after World War I, and worked in the Transportation Department as a tire repairman. The family story goes that he was lured to enlist with the promise of becoming a pilot, but after enlistment was told there were no more pilot positions open and was placed on another duty. The following photos show images of Brooks Field, San Antonio, and servicemen stationed at Brooks Field.
