The main object of the book is to develop the theory of special relativity in a way suitable for students taking A level Physics. Some more searching sections are included for the benefit of the more advanced reader. These sections are marked with an asterisk, and can be omitted in a first reading. In Chapter 2, the variation of mass with velocity is developed from experiments, before the Lorentz transformations are introduced. This leads to the development from experiments of the laws of high speed particles, and the equivalence of mass and energy.
